This week’s second NASCAR race in Dover is the Drydene 311 – Race 2 on Sunday afternoon. These dashboards combine prices from daily fantasy games, Salaries on DraftKings and FanDuel, and the betting market (odds of victory) from mybookie.com. The odds of victory are transformed into win probabilities to make comparisons to the prices of drivers available on the two big daily fantasy sites.
The first dashboard plots FanDuel Salary on the horizontal axis and DraftKings Salary on the vertical axis. The probability of winning the race, based on betting market odds from mybookie.com, are shown in terms of the size of the circles. The corresponding odds are noted with the driver name. Compared to the linear trend line, this chart illustrates which drivers are relatively more/less expensive on which daily fantasy site. Relatively more expensive drivers on DraftKings include Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Chase Elliott, and Brad Kesolowski. Drivers who are relatively more expensive on FanDuel include Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer, and William Bryon.
The second dashboard has two charts, each isolating the probability of winning the race versus salaries on each daily fantasy website. The probability of winning the race is on the horizontal axis and the respective salary for each game is on the vertical axis. A simple logarithmic trend is plotted to illustrate the relationship in both cases. According to the betting market odds, Clint Bowyer and Matt DiBenedetto offer value on both sites among the non-favorites. William Byron and Tyler Reddick offer value on DraftKings. On FanDuel, Kyle Busch appears to offer value when comparing his salary to the betting market odds, in addition to lower-salary value options in Jimmie Johnson and Erik Jones.
It is my hope that these charts provide some insights into your daily fantasy lineup building and add to the fun for this weekend’s race.
