The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 is this week’s NASCAR race. These dashboards combine prices from daily fantasy games, Salaries on DraftKings and FanDuel, and the betting market (odds of victory) from mybookie.com. The odds of victory are transformed into win probabilities to make comparisons to the prices of drivers available on the two big daily fantasy sites.
The first dashboard plots FanDuel Salary on the horizontal axis and DraftKings Salary on the vertical axis. The probability of winning the race, based on betting market odds from mybookie.com, are shown in terms of the size of the circles. The corresponding odds are noted with the driver name. Compared to the linear trend line, this chart illustrates which drivers are relatively more/less expensive on which daily fantasy site.
The second dashboard has two charts, each isolating the probability of winning the race versus salaries on each daily fantasy website. The probability of winning the race is on the horizontal axis and the respective salary for each game is on the vertical axis. A simple logarithmic trend is plotted to illustrate the relationship in both cases. According to the betting market odds, Kurt Busch offers value on both sites. Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano, and Christopher Bell appear to offer value on DraftKings, while William Byron and Alex Bowman appear to offer value on FanDuel.
It is my hope that these charts provide some insights into your daily fantasy lineup building and add to the fun for this weekend’s race.
