The second half of this week’s NASCAR doubleheader at Pocono is today at 4:00 PM EST. These dashboards combine prices from daily fantasy games, Salaries on DraftKings and FanDuel, and the betting market (odds of victory) from mybookie.com. The odds of victory are transformed into win probabilities to make comparisons to the prices of drivers available on the two big daily fantasy sites.
The first dashboard plots FanDuel Salary on the horizontal axis and DraftKings Salary on the vertical axis. The probability of winning the race, based on betting market odds from mybookie.com, are shown in terms of the size of the circles. The corresponding odds are noted with the driver name. Compared to the linear trend line, this chart illustrates which drivers are relatively more/less expensive on which daily fantasy site. The first thing to notice today, compared to yesterday, is a tighter distribution around the trend line of salaries between the two daily fantasy sites. About midway down the list, you see some differences with drivers such as Christopher Bell and Clint Bowyer being relatively more expensive on DraftKings, while Aric Almirola and Erik Jones are relatively more expensive on FanDuel.
The second dashboard has two charts, each isolating the probability of winning the race versus salaries on each daily fantasy website. The probability of winning the race is on the horizontal axis and the respective salary for each game is on the vertical axis. A simple logarithmic trend is plotted to illustrate the relationship in both cases. Given yesterday’s finish, Harvick and Hamlin are co-favorites in the betting market, but Hamlin is priced as a discount to Harvick on both sites. Almirola appears to offer some value, according to betting market odds, on both sites, while Christopher Bell is far less expensive on FanDuel, for his betting market odds, if he is of interest for your lineup.
It is my hope that these charts provide some insights into your daily fantasy lineup building and add to the fun for this weekend’s race.
