There is a doubleheader of racing this weekend at Pocono for NASCAR. Saturday is the Pocono Organics 325. These dashboards combine prices from daily fantasy games, Salaries on DraftKings and FanDuel, and the betting market (odds of victory) from mybookie.com. The odds of victory are transformed into win probabilities to make comparisons to the prices of drivers available on the two big daily fantasy sites.
The first dashboard plots FanDuel Salary on the horizontal axis and DraftKings Salary on the vertical axis. The probability of winning the race, based on betting market odds from mybookie.com, are shown in terms of the size of the circles. The corresponding odds are noted with the driver name. Compared to the linear trend line, this chart illustrates which drivers are relatively more/less expensive on which daily fantasy site. On the top right of the chart, you’ll see that betting market favorite is at a relative discount on DraftKings, as are drivers Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin (among others). Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Brad Keselowski are relatively less expensive to add to your roster on FanDuel compared to DraftKings. The big outlier here is Christopher Bell, with the most expensive salary on DraftKings for Saturday at $11,100, who appears way out of line with the betting market odds, but with him starting 36th, he has an opportunity to earn points via place differential for the race.
The second dashboard has two charts, each isolating the probability of winning the race versus salaries on each daily fantasy website. The probability of winning the race is on the horizontal axis and the respective salary for each game is on the vertical axis. A simple logarithmic trend is plotted to illustrate the relationship in both cases. On the DraftKings chart (top), Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch appear to have some value compared to their salaries, while Chase Elliott appears expensive compared to his betting market odds. Drivers such as Erik Jones and Alex Bowman may offer some value here. On the FanDuel chart (bottom), Brad Keselowski, Alex Bowman, Kurt Busch, and Jimmy Johnson appear to offer some value, according to the betting market, at their posted salaries.
It is my hope that these charts provide some insights into your daily fantasy lineup building and add to the fun for this weekend’s race.
